Educators value the success of all students. Educators care for students and act in their best interests.

Throughout my fall 2020 practicum, I worked to learn my students’ strengths and challenges and adapt my teaching for universal success. I adapted most lessons for multiple learning styles and intelligences, allowing for multiple points of entry. This helped to ensure the success of all students. Some of my students had very low levels of literacy, so I worked to ensure that there were multiple options for reflective assignments, allowing students to dictate their thinking, give verbal presentations, or draw their thoughts. This helped to maximise the success of all students and develop the confidence of some of the struggling students. One assignment that was especially successful in ensuring the success of all students was creating a sound map with a legend of what the students heard while listening in the school fields. Some of the struggling writers produced incredibly rich, detailed sound maps, and were thrilled to share their findings with the rest of the class.
